This is the first visit you'll have with me. It's also called a diagnostic assessment. This is typically 60-90 minutes and involves me asking a lot of questions and getting to know you. This visit may or may not provide full diagnostic clarity, however it will give us a starting point to work on a treatment plan and provide next steps.
Prior to your first appointment, I ask that you sign a Release of Information (ROI) so I can see your past medical and mental health records. This is especially important if you have seen someone for mental health medications in the past.
Medication management appointments are generally 30 minutes and include a discussion of current mental health status and response to medications, if prescribed. In these visits I will teach you about your diagnosis and how the medications works. I'll provide alternative options as well, and we will discuss if I recommend making changes or continue as is.
I provide therapy within my scope of practice. I fit this in during our 30 minute visit with medication management. For best results, it is often recommended to have a therapist and a medication management provider.
